Job Responsibilities in Ocean County Facilities
Clinicians play a key role in supporting residents adjusting to long-term care, ongoing medical conditions, and age-related emotional needs. Tasks include:
In-Person Psychotherapy – You will provide individual and group counseling within subacute rehabilitation units and long-term care settings. Sessions focus on mood disorders, anxiety, adjustment to medical changes, grief, and behavioral health concerns.
Assessments and Diagnosis – Psychologists will complete thorough assessments and determine appropriate diagnoses while tailoring care plans to each resident’s needs.
Treatment Planning – Evidence-based approaches guide interventions, and clinicians adjust treatment plans based on resident progress.
Collaboration – You will partner with nursing staff, social workers, physicians, and families to promote coordinated care. This is especially important in Ocean County facilities, where resident needs vary across rehabilitation, memory care, and long-term care units.
Documentation – Accurate clinical notes must be maintained in the electronic health record. Although SCT handles administrative processes, clinicians still document therapy encounters and assessments.
Qualifications Needed
Required
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology
- Active, unrestricted state license
- Ability to provide onsite care in multiple facilities

- Familiarity with subacute or long-term care environments
- Background working with depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders

For psychologists new to this specialty, SCT’s training and support provide a smooth entry point into geriatric behavioral health.
