The Ocean County Utilities Authority (OCUA), a public wastewater treatment facility consisting of three treatment plants and 40 pumping stations, is seeking dedicated candidates for the position of Maintenance Mechanic Aide I-IV. This role is part of the Authority’s Paid Apprenticeship Program and offers an exciting opportunity for professional growth and skill development in Bayville, NJ.
About the Position
The Maintenance Mechanic Aide I-IV plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the Authority’s mechanical systems. Responsibilities include assisting in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring uninterrupted operations of critical systems. This position offers a structured path for career progression, with advancement based on tenure, performance, training, and management approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining all mechanical equipment safely and efficiently.
- Participate in preventive maintenance programs to ensure operational reliability.
- Uphold good housekeeping practices in all work areas.
- Utilize respiratory protection equipment as required.
- Remain on-call for emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
- Maintain and be accountable for basic tools provided by the Authority.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting Salary: $42,432.00 annually (with progression opportunities).
- Benefits Package: Includes NJ State Health Benefits, pension (PERS), generous paid time off, and holidays.
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate responsibility, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Prior mechanical experience or relevant training is a plus.
