The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) is seeking an Employment Services Trainee to join our team. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity for growth in workforce development. As a trainee, you’ll work closely with job seekers, assisting with interviews and job placement services. Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training to build skills in applicant classification, employer relations, and placement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with job applicants to understand their employment goals and qualifications
- Classify and refer applicants to appropriate job opportunities
- Develop strong relationships with employers to facilitate job placements

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Experience: Four years of professional experience in employment programs involving applicant interviews, employer relations, and placement activities.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Note: Combination of experience and college credits may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license if operating a vehicle is necessary for job duties.
- Background Check: A comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, is required for all new hires.
- Residency Requirement: Employees must reside in New Jersey or relocate within one year of employment as per the New Jersey First Act.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; NJDOL does not provide visa sponsorship.
